Aphrodisiac herbs

An aphrodisiac is a herb or other substance that increases sexual desire. The name comes from the Greek goddess of love, Aphrodite. Throughout history, many herbs have had a reputation for making sex more attainable and/or pleasurable. Some aphrodisiacs directly increase sexual arousal by stimulating the genitals, where others provide for an increased amount of sex hormones (particularly testosterone).

Non-aphrodisiacs

Some psychoactive substances such as alcohol, cannabis, GHB, and MDMA can increase libido and sexual desire. However these drugs are not aphrodisiacs in the strict sense of the definition, as they do not consistently produce aphrodisiac effects as their main action and often actually impair function.
