Leonurus sibiricus, commonly called Honeyweed, Marahuanilla, or Siberian motherwort, is an herbaceous plant species native to central and Southwest Asia including China, Mongolia, and Russia. It is naturalized in many other parts of the world, including South, Central and North Americas. In Brasil and Mexico (Chiapas region) its commonly known and in use as a substitute for Cannabis sativa where they call it marahuanilla or the little marijuana. Leonurus sibiricus is used many centuries for its relaxing and soothing effects. This quite popular herb in the mint family is a native of East Asia and is especially common in China, Tibet, and Siberia. In ancient China and South-East Asia, motherwort was reputed to promote longevity and widely known for various matters.
