What do you need?

The Yopo snuff kit contains:
  • 750 cc water
  • 80 g caustic soda (food grade)
  • 75 g (powdered) Mimosa hostilis root bark
  • 100 ml naphtha
  • 1 1.5 l closable jar
  • 3 glass bowls
  • 1 pipette
  • 1 razor blade

Step-by-step instructions

While extracting DMT from Mimosa hostilis it is adviced to wear protective gear (like a mask and gloves)
  1. Mix the caustic soda with the water and let it cool down for a while. This mixture is known as lye. Dissolving caustic soda in water must be done slowly because it causes an exothermic (heat-releasing) reaction and this heat can cause dangerous splashing, the container to be too hot to touch, and can even crack non-borosilicate glassware, all of which could lead to dangerous situations.

  2. Put the (powdered) Mimosa root bark and the lye into your mixing jar. Cap the jar and let it rest for about 48 hours.

  3. Add the naphtha to the jar and make sure the jar is closed tight. Roll the jar for about 5 minutes. Do not shake.

  4. After the final agitation, allow enough time to pass for the naphtha to again float on top, and then separate the two layers using a pipette. The naphtha (top layer) goes in one of the glass bowls, everything else stays in the mixing jar. You can repeat steps 3 and 4 three times, so you will end up with three bowls. Put the bowls in the freezer for about 24 hours.

  5. If everything went well, there now should be DMT crystals on the bottom of the bowls. Use a pipette to remove the excess naphta from the bowls and place in a dark cool place until the DMT crystals have dried thouroughly

  6. Use a razor blade to remove the DMT crystals from the bowls, and you are ready to smoke!
