About guarana (Paullinia cupana)

Guarana (Paullinia cupana) is a climbing plant that grows in the Amazon basin of Brazil, just south of the equator. The nutty seed of the guarana plant has been used by the indigenous people for centuries for a natural energy boost. Today, more than 25% of the soft drinks sold in Brazil contain guarana as their main ingredient, which shows how popular it still is. The word 'guarana' is derived from the indigenous word 'wara'ná' from the Tupi-Guarani tribe from the Amazon. Within this strain, guarana fulfils a very sacred and special role as an extremely powerful and magical plant.

Effects of guarana

Guarana has the same properties as coffee: it can give a boost and provide more energy. The herb can also reduce or limit the need for sleep and is sometimes used as an aphrodisiac. It is not wise to use guarana just before going to sleep.

Active substances

Guarana contains 4.5% caffeine and is about four times stronger than coffee beans. Also, the caffeine in guarana is more slowly released into the body, which gives you a long-lasting kick of energy. Other ingredients are guaranine, theobromine and theophylline. Our guarana contains only ground guarana seeds, without additives or chemicals.

Using guarana powder

Guarana powder can be added to your favorite smoothie, shake or fruit juice. You can also mix guarana powder with hot water or milk and add some honey or sugar for a nice hot drink. Of course it can also be used in capsules. Use a maximum of 1-2 small teaspoons (3-6 grams), and do not exceed this daily dosage.
